Processing and Characterization of Surface Treated Chicken Eggshell and Calcium Carbonate Particles Filled High-Density Polyethylene Composites

The use of the biowaste chicken eggshell (ES) particles as an alternative filler for inorganic calcium carbonate (CC) in polymeric materials was investigated this study. ES and CC were chemically surface treated with stearic acid by dry wet methods. Composites filled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) prepared via melt mixing their thermal-mechanical- flow behavior characterized. FTIR results showed some changes chemical structure SA CC. mechanical properties composites fluctuated values based on treatment method. wet-treated HDPE/ES higher tensile flexural strengths compared to that untreated ones which also than counterparts HDPE/CC composites. treated-ES motivated crystallization process HDPE untreated-ES better reported crystallinity Morphological observations agglomeration void existence led deterioration properties.
